Hockey inCalifornia?!?

The Anaheim Ducks won the Stanley Cup tonight! Go West Coast hockey! The Ducks are bringing the Cup to California!

Ok, truth is, I'm not a sports fan. But Jimmy plays the game so by marriage osmosis:
Hockey is my favorite sport!!
This photo is a flashback to 1996. The Hockey Hall of Fame is in Toronto and we went that summer. Jimmy's standing next to the Stanley Cup for a photo op.

Beaten Like A Rented Mule

Jimmy and his team, the Surf City Rats enjoyed their games at the Vegas Tournament this year, but unfortunately, they lost all 3 of the playoff games and didn't move on to the semi-finals. Despite their losses, (and lots of time spent in the penalty box, even the goalie -eh hem- got a penalty) they had a lot of fun.

Love in Las Vegas

I'm not a gambler, but I love our yearly trip to Las Vegas. Especially since we go in the fall and the weather is mild. In fact, on Friday night, we were treated to a spectacular thunder and lightning show. Then on his way home from Jimmy's last hockey game on Saturday morning, he saw snow on the nearby Mt. Charleston mountain range. There's very little that I miss about living in the desert, but the desert storms are so spectacular, they're nearly worth paying for.

One show that certainly was worth paying for was Cirque du Soliel's newest Vegas production, "Love". The entire production is set to Beatles songs and it was a feast for the eyes and ears.

All you need is love.

Studio Friday: Contrast

I create my arts and crafts throughout the whole house. But if I had to label a particular room "my studio", it would be this one:
but I really don't create much in this room. Mostly because this room is away from the heartbeat of the household.

But another reason why I don't create many things in this room is because of this:
my husband's hockey gear shares this space.

And there's a huge contrast in my ability to be creative while smelling stinky hockey gear vs. not smelling stinky hockey gear.

So instead, I work here.

Go Sharks!

I'm not really a sports fan, but if I *had* to like a sport, it would be hockey.

My husband is a goalie afterall.

And I can be a pretty good cheerleader when my town is doing great in the semi-finals.

In any sport, I really only like watching the last game of the finals...and just the last 1/2 hour or so at that. Ya know...to watch the emotional part...when the winners are celebrating and the other team is sad.

I almost always root for the underdog. The team who hasn't won in 20 years, or is trying to end a curse, or when a coach or player is retiring after that game. Or I root for the team with the coolest uniform colors (I'm such a girl). Unless it's a Bay Area team. If they made it to the playoffs, I'm gonna root for 'em...even if their uniforms suck.
