12.9 Not that Bad

It took me 3 1/2 hours to bake 47 corgis. Not too bad actually. This was the step that I dreaded the most. The 2 times I've made sugar cookies, cutting them was the biggest challenge. But the recipe I used this time was a little easier to deal with. Plus the dough was chilled, which I learned, helps tremendously. When the dough got too soft, I just popped it back in the fridge and worked on another batch. And I sandwiched the dough between parchment paper when I rolled it out. I used to just flour the counter and flour the rolling pin...if I had a rolling pin...I had to use a plastic cup as a rolling pin once.

Of course, not all of them turned out perfect.
This is how they should look like.

But they didn't turn out bad at all. In fact, they just have more personality.
This one is a little chubby. Well, chubbier than corgis normally are. They're just genetically chubby. With short little legs. Which makes them sooo adorable.

This guy though is carrying a little more weight than he should. His stomach drags on the ground when he walks. Maybe he ate too many sugar cookies.

Tomorrow I get to decorate them. Which will probably be the funnest part for me. But it has a high possibility of being challenging and frustrating, too.

Just for the fun of it, here's a pic of the corgis in our family.
They live with Jimmy's cousin and have visited us a couple of times at the hideaway.

Didn't get a chance to grab a snapshot around town today, so here's a pic I took tonight of our tall and slender tree.
You can't see them, but I added a few more ornaments to it this year. I've decided that I like basic round Christmas ornaments best for this little tree.

The dog has a video, too!

Steve and Max have a GoPro doggie camera harness that goes on the dog's back.

This video is long, 11 minutes, but if think of it like the length of a cartoon, it won't feel that long. If you must cut it short (I probably would if it weren't starring my dog-nephew), the first 3-4 minutes shows him at his water doggie best. :)

Let the Games Begin

Our first guests for Camp Retz 2013 came today.

Their human brought yummy sushi ingredients and gave me a basic Sushi 101 Tutorial.
It was so cool, I loved it! Pretty labor intensive with making the rice, adding the perfect amount of rice vinegar, slicing the veggies, etc. But I got to roll a couple of them myself. Very fun! I'll certainly have to make some again soon.

9 more + another pup will be here tomorrow afternoon.

My very favorite part of the summer!

Bennybus Herman Bad Cat

My MIL's cat travels with them. He's always been a good traveller, but this morning, it looks like he was ready to be home. Either that or he was just really annoyed with me and his up close and personal photo shoot.

12.25: Rocking Around the Christmas Tree

Rocking around the Christmas Tree
at the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Ev'ry couple tries to stop

Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Let the Christmas Spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
and we'll do some caroling

10 of us got gathered together around the Christmas tree today. We spent a few hours enjoying our Christmas dinner, opening presents and catching up since the last time we saw each other. Kitty enjoyed the aftermath almost as much as we enjoyed opening and giving them.

I'm Watching You

Kitty thought that darned Easter Bunny was up to no good. Hiding eggs, leaving baskets full of chocolate, next thing you know, that bunny will start eating Kitty's tuna and drinking milk. Nope, Kitty wouldn't have anything to do with that silly rabbit.

Opening Presents {December Daily 25}

It was a quiet Christmas day for the 5 of us. Ham, scalloped potatoes, rolls and broccoli for dinner at 2:30. But someone was a lot more interested in opening presents... He seems to be satisfied with his gifts.

...and very tired after all of today's activities. He settled in for a long winter's nap.

My Pet Robot

Aweeee...look who was waiting for me at the door when I got home?

The scary thing is that when I saw him there, I greeted him with a cheery "Hi Roomba!"

Smores, Sun and Sticks

Day 3 of Camp Retz is about to start and we've already had quite a bit of fun in the sun! Here's a quick teaser. My slow internet connection at the hideaway prevents me from adding more, even though I've already shot 300+ photos in 1.5 days.

Youngest nephew enjoying a smore on the 1st day they arrived.

Lots of lake activities with 2 boats and 3 tubes + water skis, knee boards and a fishing rod.

Their beloved dog Touchdown...loving the lake and fetching big sticks more than anything in the world.
