Fogust with Friends

One of my best friends came up to visit with her son this weekend.

We had the same major in college so we had a lot of classes together. After Jimmy and I got married, we moved to the same town that she already lived in. She also helped me get my first real job after college at the company she worked for. We carpooled almost every day. A couple years later, Jimmy and I moved to the Bay Area, but we never lost touch. For over 10 years, we talk via instant message, but I haven't seen her in 3 years so haven't actually heard her voice in that long, either. But we can chat for 3 hours on the computer if time permits. So you can imagine that with that much to say every day, we still know each other pretty well.

I'm not entirely sure why, but I don't have a whole lot of photos of us in the past. A handful of special events, but not as many as you'd think I would have considering we've been friends for almost 25 years.
This was Monica's wedding shower in 1996.
And at her wedding a couple months later.

Of course I went down to Los Angeles to meet her brand new son, 11 1/2 years ago.

And before I lived in San Francisco, I came up from San Jose to spend a day with them while they were here for a long weekend in the fall of 2006.

Her son was only 4. He doesn't remember much of that trip so it was a lot of fun being with him now.

Fall of 2007, they came up to our cabin in the woods.

The last time I actually saw her was in 2010 when I was down helping my brother-in-law with the 3 nephews while his wife was out of town for work.

But since we talk every day, it's like we just saw each other a week ago.

Her son was a tiny bit shy the 1st time I saw him again, but within 5 minutes of seeing how Monica and I talk, laugh and joke around with each other, he felt right at home.

Of course, since this is what I do now, I created a video slideshow of our 3 days together...

Oh...and Fogust? That's what August is called in San Francisco since it's always super foggy.

I heard about the 27.5 million car... a fancy 1950s Ferrari, only 10 ever made I think. Bought by a Canadian. Stupid IMHO! Think what good that money would do in places in the world where it's needed. And consider the insurance premiums.... completely stupid.
