Sunset, Moonrise

I hope you went outside tonight. WOW, what a stunning evening.

Tonight, the moon is the closest it will be to the earth for 2012 so it appears a lot bigger and brighter.

But before we could see the moon, the sun had to set.
We had a picnic dinner at Immigrant Overlook in the Presidio and watched the sunset over the pacific ocean tonight.

Even though the sun actually set behind the marine layer (air mass which develops over the surface of a large body of water such as the ocean or large lake in the presence of a temperature inversion), it was still beautiful.

But the main event of the night was seeing the big, bright moon rise over the City.
Absolutely breathtaking.

A super zoom photo of the super moon.

It was so close and so bright, it practically looked like the sun! Or at least if you set your shutter speed to 30 seconds, then it'll look like that, hee!

The Golden Gate Bridge looked stunning tonight as well.

Great pictures Mad!
I went out and had a look at the moon too... not in anywhere so romantic as SF unfortunately, but just outside on the road in front of my house. Big and bright, and it will probably be the same tonight, I'll be out there having another look.
I have spent the afternoon digging up dandelions. Lucky you.... you don't have to do that in your apartment!

breathtaking is right. the cats were in the window sill watching the moon, I believe, and not the feral cats outside.

We were in England for this grand event, Mad, and weren't able to see a thing. Too-too bad for us, but we've been lucky to see it from elsewhere around the world. Thank you!
