75th Anniversary

On May 27th, 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge opened to the public and 75 years later, The City had a great big celebration in store for it. All month, people have been talking about it in anticipation. 500,000 people were expected to show up to enjoy the festivities. It took us 2 hours to get there even though we only live 5 miles away, but it was worth every effort and all the miles we ended up having to walk.

It was the best firework show I've ever seen.

I wish you could have been with us to see it. Can you come in 2037 for its 100th?

I will definitely be there in 2037. I might be a bit doddery by then but I'll try!
I saw that the Bridge was going to have a party, there was something about it on the CBC News, and I wondered if you'd be there to help celebrate. So glad that you went.... the fireworks pictures are awesome.

we decided to watch it across the bay in pt isabel. there was a good amount of people who came shivering, the wind was howling.

from our spot we could easily see the bridge adn the fireworks, but the impact wasn't as strong if we were closer. in fact i don't think we got the full extent of the beauty of the fireworks from where we stood.
