The wheels are in motion and we will know for sure on Tuesday. But from the photo above, I'm sure you know what our decision is. Does anyone remember the theme song to the 70s sitcom "The Jeffersons"?
"Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky."
Sure, that was NYC, but funnily enough, we will be on the east side of town.
Truly, it was a hard decision to make. There were lots of pros for each place and the house really is much more our style. But we're at this juncture in our lives where we can do things out of our regular normalcy but still stay within our comfort zone. And this condo in the sky seems to be it.
We will miss having a kitty. It's been a year and a half since Billy died and we're both ready to adopt a new fur family member. But since we're not currently attached to a fluffy loved one (the grey one I photographed a few posts earlier is my MIL's cat), we've decided that we can wait another 2 years to give this urban metropolitan lifestyle a try sans kitty. Although, the building is very pet friendly, lots of dogs, there's even a social night every wednesday in the common courtyard for doggie playdates and their humans. But the owner of the unit we're renting prefers no pets.
So now it's a matter of packing up and getting rid of stuff. I figure I need to get rid of half of my crafting goodness. Which will be torture. But freeing at the same time.
Today we're at the cabin, enjoying the rural lifestyle. And we know that having this getaway played a big part in our decision making. Since we've got our little piece of heaven to escape to at least once a month, living in such an urban environment will be much more pleasant. Maybe in a couple of years, we'll want to buy a house in the Bay Area. Maybe even in San Francisco, or maybe back down to the Peninsula or even out towards where the parentals live in the East Bay. Who knows? But for now, renting in this highrise fits where we are now.
