Arrived at 11:30pm, the sun was just setting, a nice orange glow in the sky. Met my future sister-in-law, who is so kind and charismatic! She and my BIL picked us up from the airport.
So, no joke: On the freeway to the hotel, 2 HUGE moose were crossing the street. Yup! Moose in Alaska. Seriously, how cool is that?? We're not even here for an hour and we saw our first moose siting. Massive moose, nothing like that little scrawny thing on Northern Exposure. Unfortunately though, I didn't get a photo. Hopefully we'll be fortunate enough to see another.

Glad you landed safe and sound. And what a welcome! Too funny.
wow, not even a lay over in the northwest... :( have fun!
That's a good sign, seeing a moose (or two) in your first hour is a good omen, means that you'll have a fan-bloomin-tastic time!
You are so lucky/blessed.
What a great welcome - no doubt the moose came out just for you!
The kids and I saw a stuffed moose in the weird museum of dead animals Tuesday. It was GIGANTIC! Hard to believe they grow that large. What an awesome sight to see a live one!
I'm way behind in blog reading, but look forward to catching up on yours soon!
I changed the url to my blog, so you might want to fix it in your links. It's now http://snarkydork.blogspot.com
I loved Northern Exposure! E and I used to laugh at the opening because it looked like they had to give that moose a little push to walk out. So, I'd always say, in this weird little voice, "Push the moose!" right before. It was funny to us, at least.
