Another thing

I really need to smack myself. I suppose I'll give myself a break because all of this sudden reflection can't happen all at once, when I'm trying to get ready for a big trip and the 4th of July. (have I told you that I'm not a great multi-tasker? Although I can chew gum and walk at the same time).

uh. what was my point here?

Oh yea. How could it have slipped my mind that my mom was the same age in these photos as I am now? That's just so crazy to me. Her 38 is so vastly different than my 38. Not just because she was getting married and I've been married for a long time already, but e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.! I know though, that's probably the case for almost all mothers and daughters.

What was your mother doing when she was your current age?

My mother at the age I am now, already had a 5 year old (my sister) and was about to find out she was expecting me and she had been married 10 years. They had just moved to my hometown. Yep that's pretty much all I know. A pretty different life than the one I know right now.

Interestingly enough my mom and I were very similar. She got married at 22 and I at 20. At 26 she had me and was ready to pop or just had my sister. Not sure what else she was doing other than running around taking care of me :)

What a neat reflection. Like you, I'm at a very different place (in every way) from where my mom was at this age. I was already nine and my sister was eleven and my parents had been married for over twelve years. I've only been married for three years and Julia's one!

I too am 38. By the time my mother was my age, she'd lost both of her parents, her oldest child was 17; what I most remember about my mom at this age is that she seemed sad, so very sad.

Lots of differences here too. My Mom was on her second marriage, had 4 kids, and did not work outside of the home. I've been married for 12 1/2 years, no kids, and been at the same job for a little bit longer than that.

I am 62. By the time my mom was my age she was smoking herself to death, crabbing at the way I was raising my children and crabbing day in and day ouy at my dad. Your pictures are wonderful. I never knew when my mom and dad were married and like you I know little about their relationship, just months before my mom died, she spilled a lot of her story
